Explore how to simulate the rich, luscious look of wax painting by mixing and applying recipes of faux acrylic beeswax!   We will work with varying viscosities of acrylic gels and tint them with different amounts of color to make several types of “wax-like” recipes. Then students will apply these mixtures to several under-painted surfaces to see how each recipe interacts uniquely over color. Observe the varying degrees of translucency and shimmer of the simulated waxes, see how you can carve into them while wet, and embed items between the layers!  Discover how these recipes can be an exciting element in your painting and mixed media applications!

All acrylic materials will be provided by Golden Artist Colors and workshop-use brushes, tools and supports will be provided by me. Please bring a paint smock, supplies to take notes, and a box to transport your projects (at least 9x12 inches in size)
