- WORKSHOPS -

Workshops are hands-on experiences where attendees have the opportunity to play with paints in a variety of techniques and take home their projects!  These can be set up through art stores, art associations or small groups and can be booked by anyone, anywhere nationally and internationally!  If you are interested in setting something up, please contact me at amyshawley@gmail.com.  I look forward to working with you!

Below is a list of my current workshops, please note that they are listed by state and workshop dates/details are subject to change at anytime.  I'm always adding new dates and topics, so if you don't see something you want to attend, keep checking back or join my mailing list to receive event announcements!

Intro to Acrylic Gels & Mediums

Saturday February 16, 2018

Location: For Art's Sake Gallery, Henrico VA

Description:

Acrylic mediums, gels, and pastes provide artists with countless creative options for how to alter and enhance their acrylic color!  Gels and mediums can be used to extend pigments, create varying thicknesses of texture, change surface sheen, achieve glazes (and more!), while pastes can provide both wonderful texture and act as a ground layer for both wet and dry media. Come explore these materials to broaden your understanding of how they can be incorporated into your work!  This workshop will focus on idea-building and each student will make a series of sample boards to take home and use as a reference in their own painting projects.
All workshop-use GOLDEN paints/mediums, brushes/tools, painting surfaces, and other misc supplies needed for class will be provided by the Instructor.  Students are asked to bring reference images that inspire them (ie florals, landscapes, animals, abstracts), an apron/smock or wear "paint clothes", supplies to take notes, and a large piece of
cardboard or a trash bag to lay down in your car (in case any of our surfaces are still tacky at the end of the day).  Workshop questions can be emailed to amyshawley@gmail.com
