- WORKSHOPS -

Workshops are hands-on experiences where attendees have the opportunity to play with paints in a variety of techniques and take home their projects!  These can be set up through art stores, art associations or small groups and can be booked by anyone, anywhere nationally and internationally!  If you are interested in setting something up, please contact me at amyshawley@gmail.com.  I look forward to working with you!

Below is a list of my current workshops, please note that they are listed by state and workshop dates/details are subject to change at anytime.  I'm always adding new dates and topics, so if you don't see something you want to attend, keep checking back or join my mailing list to receive event announcements!

Acrylic Encaustic Effects

New Date TBA (Rescheduling from June 16)

Location: The Art Box, Lynchburg VA

Description: Explore how to simulate the ethereal and luscious look of wax painting by mixing and applying recipes of acrylic "beeswax"! We will work with varying thicknesses of acrylic gels and tint them with color to make several types of "wax-like" recipes. Students will apply these mixtures to several drawn and painted surfaces to see how each recipe interacts uniquely over color and line! Observe the varying degrees of translucency and shimmer of the simulated waxes, see how you can carve into them while wet and embed items between the layers! Come discover how these recipes can be an exciting element in your painting and mixed media applications.

Workshop use paints, surfaces, and tools will be supplied by the instructor. Please bring reference images to inspire you (i.e.: landscapes, florals, animals, etc) supplies to take notes, and a bin/box to transport your projects home in (about 3-4 surfaces sized 8x10).

Fee: $55

Time: 11:30am-3:30pm

Registration Info: Registration and workshop fees are due in advance, please make checks out to Amy Paquette and drop off at the store or mail to Amy.  Email amyshawley@gmail.com for mailing address and questions!
